Released in 2005 this is my favorite Springsteen. Some of the better tracks are – Reno, All The Way Home, Long Time Comin’, All I’m Thinkin’ About and Devils & Dust. Apparently most songs from this album were written a decade before it was released.
I love the harmonica solo in Devils & Dust. The song tells the story of a troubled American soldier serving presumably in Iraq. Some lyrics from the song:
I got God on my side,
I'm just trying to survive -
What if, what you do to survive
Kills the things you love.
Fear's a powerful thing ...
It’s a bit of a slow depressing album but definitely has it’s place for those days when that’s the kind of thing you want to listen to.
