Released in 1966 it was The Beach Boys 11th studio album and without a doubt their best work. It has been widely ranked as one of the most influential records ever released in popular music and in 2003, it was ranked number 2 in Rolling Stone Magazine’s 500 Greatest Albums of All Time beaten by The Beatle’s Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band.
This album seriously has 14 great tracks on it – Wouldn’t It Be Nice, That’s Not Me, Sloop John B (the first song I learned to play on the guitar), God Only Knows, I Just Wasn’t Made For These Times and Caroline No to name a few.
I went to Melbourne with my sister Lieselle to see Brian Wilson perform the “Pet Sounds Live” tour. It was brilliant but so sad to see what drugs have done to this musical genius!
