Released in 1987 this was the first time I ever heard of Midnight Oil. In 1989, Rolling Stone magazine ranked it number 13 on their list of the 100 best albums of the 80s.
The rhythm of Beds are Burning is said to be inspired by the noise of their vehicles' wheels on the corrugated dirt roads in the region.
I'm not the worlds biggest Peter Garrett fan but I can admit they have some great songs and what other choice could I make for an album of the day on Australia Day.
